About

       I am John Lynton Juan Arucan, a 4th year college student of Mariano Marcos State University - College of Teacher Education, taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education, Major in English. I recently became a participant of the SEA (Southeast Asian) Teacher Project of SEAMEO.

1.1 School profile

Overview of the Principal


The era of globalization with all its implications is one of the triggers of rapid changes that occur in various aspects of people's lives, and if there is no serious effort to anticipate it, it will become a very serious problem. In this case the world of education has a great responsibility, especially in preparing resilient human resources so that they are able to live in harmony with the changes themselves. Education is a long-term investment whose results cannot be seen and felt instantly, so that the school as the spearhead in the field must have a long-term development direction with clear stages of achievement and still accommodate the demands of current factual problems in the community.


Vision of SMAN 2 MADIUN


The realization of a generation of intellectual and high fighting nation based on Faith, Knowledge, Technology and Taqwa and virtuous character noble.

Mission of SMAN 2 MADIUN


a. Carry out educational programs to appreciate religious values for the sake of the realization of imtaq balance, knowledge and charity and virtue noble.

b. Carry out effective and efficient learning for improvement intellectual ability and life skills as well as skilled.

c. Carry out Information Technology-based learning and Communication.

d. Carry out learning programs that are able to actualize teak students who excel in the academic field.

e. Carry out learning programs that are able to actualize teak students who excel in the non- academic field.

f. Carry out learning programs that are able to produce graduates who are qualified and able to compete in PTN, business and industry.

g. Carry out an intensive tutoring process for increase the acquisition of UN and UAS values.

h. Carry out the learning process using bilingual.


Purpose


a. Can improve imtaq balance, knowledge and noble character all school people

b. Can improve honesty, discipline and order of all citizens school.

c. Can increase the average acquisition of UN and UAS values to reach 8.5.

d. Can increase the percentage of graduates accepted in favorite PTNs reaching 95%.

e. Can improve student academic achievement (Science Olympiad and POPDA) at the city / district, provincial, national and international levels.

f. Can improve the achievement of non-academic students (LKIR, Art, Computers, Scouts, PKS and PMR) at the city / regency, provincial, national, and international.

g. Can improve ICT / ICT based learning processes.

h. Can realize foreign language learning and communication (english day).


1.2 Academic support system


The academic in SMAN 2 Madiun is based on 'Kurikulum 2013 Revisi' or the Revised 2013 Curriculum and the school is under the East Java provincial government. The government provides all of the primary materials such as books into the school which is then used as the main source of getting information to be taught inside the classroom.

1.3 Teaching system


The teachers teach with some variety methods that are mainly focused on speaking and writing. The school is more focused on the productive skills of the students in which they are tasked to create, act, articulate, and also embody the lessons they have learned into a productive work. If it is to be judged they are more on the side of communicative efficiency by which they are tested on how they can maintain a conversation and to portray learnings that can be applied into the real scenario or on the real world.


1.4 Materials and Other Learning Sources


Materials and Learning sources that are being used by the teacher at SMAN 2 Madiun include books provided by the government that are given to students, PowerPoint, discussion, and browsing. When it comes to the facilities in the school there is the library which also provides a conducive area for the students to really digest further the learnings they want to gain. There is also a speech laboratory for speech classes. For Science-related studies, they also provide two rooms; one is for Physics, and another for Chemistry. In these rooms they have all of the amenities needed either in conducting experiments or working on a systemic concentrated understanding of concepts such as machines and lab facilities. At the center of the school you will find the open court where all sports and fitness related activities takes place, this is where students are being assessed on their performances in the fitness tests or their skills in doing sports. Lastly to be featured is their AULA or in direct translation to English, their HALL. This is where they conduct programs or seminars and lectures that will further engage the students in getting knowledge from different personalities and speakers.


1.5 Measurement and Evaluation System


The students of SMAN 2 Madiun are trained in different skills that shall cater to the needs of their Cognitive, Psychomotor and Affective skills which makes it very clear to also provide various of tasks, tests, and exams for the students. They get their rapport after each semester done, that means after 6 months of school. So other than the pen and paper tests, the students are also evaluated in performance tasks which is effective to determine the knowledge of the students as well as their application towards the lesson that they just learned. There is also the GENERAL EXAM that they have to do that is required for them to pass an important program. They will be accomodated in a computer room which they will have the exams. But other than the examinations and tests, hands-on activities and performances are also used as modes of assessment for it will showcase how well the students will perform and apply the lessons they have learned inside the four corners of the classroom.


1.6 General Curriculum

SMA Negeri 2 Madiun is currently supported by the latest curriculum called 'Kurikulum 2013 Revisi'


1.7 Teaching Plan


The students of SMA Negeri 2 Madiun took tests at their first year then got placed to their respective class whether it may be in social class or science class. Each generation has 7 until 8 science classes and 2 social classes.


School starts at 6:45 on Mondays for the Flag Ceremony and 7:00 on other days then they end on 3:30 except on Fridays where they end the classes by 12 noon.
